Psychotherapy Sessions - What happens?

Psychotherapy involves regular sessions in a confidential setting using a combination of techniques to suit the individual needs. Each session usually lasts for an hour to an hour and half and in most cases the length of the treatment will be agreed between the client and the therapist. It is of utmost importance that the therapeutic setting provides a safe place so that trust and confidentiality can be maintained.

Techniques are used to increase awareness so that with time a better understanding is created to manage life imbalance. Treatment can sometimes involve exploring past patterns of relationships to enable a better understanding of present issues. As a result this understanding often frees the person to make choices about what happens in the future.

The therapy can also involve quite brief therapy for specific difficulties which enable clients to understand dysfunctional patterns of thinking.

Referring Clients

I accept referrals from professionals such as GPs, Psychiatrists, and other services. In addition other therapists may refer for a specific piece of work or for other specialist addiction services. I also welcome referrals from friends of current clients.

I also have an extensive network of professionals both in the US and Europe and this includes a network of extensive International treatment centres. During any inpatient stay I keep contact with the facility to ensure a confidential follow up when the patient is discharged from treatment.
